Kakarakaya Pulusu / Bitter Gourd Pulusu / Bitter Gourd Soup

Bitter Gourd is a vegetable ,which have  lot of  medicine values.This is the best medicine for the people who suffering from diabetes.It helps to lowering the sugar levels of diabetic person.and it is also have vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A,B1,B2,B3,C and iron,pottasium,calcium.Bitter gourd has lot of health benefits.
Ingredients:
Kakarkaya /Bitter Gourd - 2 nos
Chana Dal - 2 tsp
Tamarind pulp(thick) -2 cup
Gaggery-3 tsp
Red chilly powder-2 tsp
Sesame seeds powder-2 tsp(optional)
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Salt to taste
Curry leaves-1 spring
Vegetable oil-3 tsp
Coriander,cumin,mustard seeds-1 tsp
Method :
First peel the excess layer of the bitter gourd. cut into round pieces,and remove the seeds.soak ,wash in a salt water for few mins.then the bitterness will go.heat the oil in a kadai add coriander,cumin,mustard seeds.when it splutter add chana dal saute till it turned into light golden color.
then add washed bitter gourd pieces,curry leaves,turmeric powder.
saute for few mins till it leaves raw smell.then cover the lid cook for 2 to 3 mins.
now add tamarind pulp,red chilly powder,salt to it .
if u like the pulusu like thin consistency add few water according to your taste. bring it to boil.
then add gaggery and sesame powder
 cook till the tamarind become soft.garnish with coriander leaves.that'it hot hot kakarkaya pulusu is ready.
serve with hot rice and cooked dal(mudda pappu).

oh my god!!!
this pulusu is my fav and brings back soo many memories...
back at home me and my grandpa used grow these kakarakaya plants and its my duty to pluck these when they are ready .
Amma used to make this pulusu for me .
We also do it in same way but with little variation .
