Uppudu Pindi / Rice flour upma

Uppudu pindi is also called uppu pindi or uppidi pindi.Uppudu pindi made with rice flour or rice ravva(grounded rice) or sooji.preparation of uppudu pindi is similar to upma,but have little variation.This is also called rice flour upma.This can be prepared as break fast or lunch or dinner.

Ingredients :
Rice flour / rice ravva / sooji - 1 cup
Water - 1 1/2 cup
Chana dal - 1 tsp
Pea nuts- 1 tsp
Onion - 1 medium size
Green chilly-3 to 4
Red chilly -2 to 3
hing-pinch
Curry leaves- 1 spring
Coriander leaves - few
Vegetable oil/Ghee/Butter-2 tsp
cumin , mustard seeds - 1tsp
Salt to taste
Method :
Heat the oil in wide pan.add cumin,mustard seeds.when it splutter add chana dal and peanuts fry till they turned into golden color.add chillies,chopped onion,curry leaves.saute for few mins till onion leaves raw smell.
add water,salt hing.Bring it to boil.
then add rice flour.
with spatula mix well.
here lot of lumps will form.now add 1 tsp of oil or ghee on the top of the flour.mix,stir well.
cover the lid and cook for 15 to 25 mins on low flame.To void sticking to the bottom of the pan stir sometime while it's cooking.
cook,stir till all the lumps separated.
serve hot with any pickle.

  6. yummy uppuma...i tried upuma always with semolina only..never tried rice flour...this one iz new for me..will try it for sure...nice picture..

    We do arisi upma with rice rava in a similar manner sans onion .Nice recipe .Will try your with rice flour
